Help kids who are just like me...

My name is Makaela and I never thought in a million years I would get as sick as I got. Eight months ago I was admitted to Childrens Hospital with what I thought was a very bad case of the flu. I had never felt so horrible in my whole life and it kept getting worse. I had lots of doctors and nurses giving me all kinds of tests to figure out what was wrong with me. All I knew is that I wanted to get better so I could go home. Nan and this amazing team of doctors and nurses in the ID department were able to take all the clues to my puzzle and figure out what was wrong with me. It seems I had a staph infection that developed into Toxic Shock. It was a very serious situation but what I remember most was how upbeat and positive everyone was. They took the time to explain to me exactly what was happening to my body, why I felt the way I did and our plan of attack to make me better. I knew this team was going to make me better no matter what and wouldn't give up till they did. It took a very long time for me to feel like my old, crazy, energetic self again but I am back! When I walk on Oct 3rd everything that happened to me will feel like a very, very bad dream but I will never be able to thank enough Nan and all those doctors and nurses whose caring and dedication made me 100% better!
